CREATION of FRED THE SCARECROW

In order to create "Fred", we made a web to decide what body parts a scarecrow should have. Then, we discussed whether he should sit down or stand up. Some of us drew pictures of what Fred should look like. We voted on whether he should be a boy or a girl. We decided a boy. We took a vote to decide his name. The class made up three names; Light, Scarecrow boy , and Fred. Fred won the vote. The pictures in the blog depict the children choosing body parts and clothing for construction. I enjoyed watching the children decide that Fred's hair must be trimmed before his ears will stick on. A few children also did not want Fred to go hungry so they put some yarn for spaghetti and plastic squash in his tummy.
